Who we are, why we’re here
Hi there.
I’m Jess Romeo, the founder of my gender IQ.
I’m a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, clinical social worker, and small business owner.
I specialize in integrative psychiatry with trans & gender-expansive individuals, and have lived experience as a queer & trans guy.
Let me tell you a little bit about who I am, and why we’re here.
My Story (the short version)
I grew up queer in the deep South,
with the knowledge that most folks around me believed there was something fundamentally wrong about my identity.
Blurry prom photo, mid-2000s, where I am equal parts terrified to be wearing this in public, and ensconced in queer joy.

To combat this, I learned that the best tool at my disposal was information, delivered
with a crucial assumption—
We’re all doing the best we can
with what we’ve been given.
The problem is,
Most people are being given misinformation.
It skillfully leverages fear to block us from the better angels of our nature.
That’s why I started my gender IQ.
my gender IQ is here to:
Combat misinformation by offering high-quality education in user-friendly platforms
Partner with other trans educators and leaders to provide a wide variety of perspectives
Offer potential allies the benefit of the doubt, and space to learn
Use ideas as tools to create safe spaces for others in my community.
